BNF Healthy Eating Week 2018: Which challenges will you try?

Welcome to the British Nutrition Foundation’s (BNF) Healthy Eating Week; which is all about encouraging UK workplaces, universities, schools and nurseries to come together to focus on healthy eating and drinking, physical activity and not forgetting, celebrating healthy living. As part of this week, BNF has set five challenges for us all to try as well as creating helpful guides that you can download here to help you to succeed. We too at Making Sense of Sugar want to do our bit in helping us all crack these challenges and so, on this website you will also find lots of additional tips to help you on your way. Why not take a look at:

Challenge 1: Have breakfast – It’s important to start the day with a nutritious breakfast to give your body energy. Check out our Guide to Sugars to get the facts on the sugars and calories content typically found in some of your favourite breakfasts.

Challenge 2: Have 5 a day – Reaching your 5 a day may be easier than you think! Fresh, frozen and canned fruit and vegetables all count. Get some more tips from our healthy balanced diet page.

Challenge 3: Drink plenty – Did you know that according to the Eatwell Guide, you should aim to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day?

Challenge 4: Get active – We know it can be difficult to fit in exercise regardless of age, shape and ability, but an active life is essential for physical and mental health and wellbeing. Challenge 5: Make a change – It’s fun to challenge yourself and your friends for a week but it’s also important that we take what we’ve learnt this week and turn it into positive change for good. Whether it’s having breakfast each day or a commitment to becoming more active, try to decide on one thing that you are going to continue to do.
